Ferry – Return Delayed

There is bad news for people who use Wolfe Island, Amherst Island and Glenora ferry service.

The Ministry of Transportation has announced the Wolfe Islander III will not return to service until the week after Labour Day.

The delay is due to construction of a new wheel house on the ferry.  The work requires significant electrical and navigational installations.  That means it won’t be back in service until early September – the second delay in the ferry’s return to service since it went to Hamilton for its five year inspection and refit.

The smaller Frontenac II will continue to service Wolfe Island.  The Quinte Loyalist will continue providing service for Amherst Island and 30 minute single vessel service will continue at Glenora until the Wolfe Islander returns to service.

Dr. John Bell says genetic mutations of cells caused by cancer seem to be susceptible to viruses.

Patients in the clinical trial will receive viruses engineered to destroy cancer cells and trigger immune responses in the body.
