Kingston Soldier Recognized by Governor General 

A Kingston-based soldier has been recognized by the Governor General.

Sgt. Helen Hawes was named as a member of the Order of Military Merit, in Ottawa on Monday.

It recognizes “distinctive merit and exceptional service, dedication and devotion beyond the call of duty”

Hawes is an army communications systems specialist at the Canadian Forces School of Communication and Electronics at CFB Kingston.

 

Bong Water Assault

A 22 year old woman is facing assault charges after calling the police on herself.

 

The woman allegedly got into an argument with her ex-girlfriend at a west end residence this week, punching the victim and soaking her with bong-water.

 

The accused then contacted police, who arrived and arrested her without incident.

 

The two had apparently been dating for roughly four months.

 

NBA Finals Springer Market Square

The City of Kingston has announced the NBA finals will be aired in Springer Market Square.

 

They ask that you bring your own lawn chair, and to check the forecast and dress appropriately.

 

Game 1 between the Raptors and Warriors airs tomorrow night (Thursday) at 9 o’clock.

A man from Brockville is facing a $30-thousand fine for smuggling cheese
