Frontenac Secondary – Suspicious Activity

Kingston Police say a report about suspicious activity at Frontenac Secondary School did not involve any threat to student safety.  Police say reports of a student with a gun turned out to be unfounded. The Limestone District School Board says there was no lockdown or hold and secure put in place – but some students who were outside the school during their lunch break were called in to the school and the back doors were locked as a precaution.

Cancer Centre Award

A unique program at the regional cancer centre in Kingston has received honorable mention for Quality and Innovation.  The Cancer Quality Council of Ontario has recognized a program where the cancer centre in Kingston mixes, prepares and transports chemotherapy to Brockville General Hospital and Perth Smiths Falls Hospital on a daily basis so patients don’t have to travel to Kingston.  It is the first program of its kind in Ontario.

Since the implementation of the program over 2,000 treatments have been delivered to the community hospitals and that means patients avoided having to make 2,000 trips to Kingston to get their chemotherapy treatment.

There is no word on the extent of damage or cause of the fire….but the tenants of the building have had to find other accommodation.
