Record Temperature

Kingston had a record high temperature of 26 degrees yesterday.  That broke the old record of 23 set on October 1st of 1991.

The temperature is set to drop to 13 degrees this afternoon…hit six degrees tonight and the high tomorrow is forecast to be just 10 degrees.

 

Priest – Administrative Leave

The Archdiocese of Kingston says Priest Robert Chisholm has been placed on administrative leave from his position in Picton.

Attorneys from The Bollinger Law Firm, P.C. has said that Chisholm is the subject of an investigation into allegations of misconduct involving minors.  A news release from the Archdiocese says Chisholm was investigated in the mid-1990’s for possible violations of appropriate conduct with minors.  It says a recent investigation of that report found a semblance of truth in it.

Police haven’t been contacted and are not currently investigating Chisholm.

The investigation is now in the hands of the Catholic Church in Rome.

 

Man Charged – Woman Assaulted

A Kingston man is facing multiple charges after a girl was assaulted on Monday afternoon while walking in the area of James and Bagot Streets.

Kingston Police say a man put his arm around the girl and told her she could be his girlfriend and he would buy her nice things.  She fled and called her father who contacted police.

A 35-year-old man was arrested in the area.  Police seized a baggy containing crystal methamphetamine.

The man has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference with a person under 16, possession of drugs and breach of probation.

 

Break in Suspect

Kingston Police have released security pictures of a man who entered a residence in midtown Kingston and stole numerous pieces of property.  The man arrived on a bicycle at the residence at 1:21 on the morning of August 7th.  A man checked car doors in the driveway…checked the garage door and back door and then entered the home through the front door while the resident of the home was sleeping.

Anybody who can identify the man is being asked to contact Kingston Police or Crime Stoppers.

Amber Alert

An Amber Alert for five children who are believed to be with their father has been cancelled but the search for the children continues.

The Amber Alert was issued yesterday for the children who range in age from five to 14.

Investigators believe their 49-year-old father took the children from their family home sometime between September 19th and 25th.

 

CAS Changes

Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington says it will be announcing the biggest change ever in the work it does in two weeks.

The agency says it will be a fundamental change that will impact everything it does and will have a major effect on the families it serves.

Details of its new vision and strategic plan will be released in the organization’s annual report on October 17th.

 

New Website

Utilities Kingston has launched a new and improved website.

Manager of Corporate Communications Martina Tremmet says they’re proud of the improvements providing upgrades for visitors with disabilities and a more responsive design for customers using mobile devices.  Utilities Kingston’s website has 15,000 users per month – 45 per cent of them visit from a mobile device.

Tremmet says the improvements meet requirements for businesses in Ontario to make websites accessible for people with disabilities by 2021.

The work was done by Utilities Kingston staff.
