Special Weather Statement

There is a mixed bag of weather in the forecast for tonight as the temperature is set to rise to plus 6 tomorrow.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement saying there could be some freezing rain tonight before things change to rain as the temperature rises to plus 2 by tomorrow morning.

 

Adelaide Street Fire

Two people were taken to hospital for treatment after a fire in an apartment on Adelaide Street.

Kingston Fire and Rescue found heavy smoke coming from an apartment on the second floor of the building at 15 Adelaide Street around 11:20 Saturday night.

The fire caused extensive damage to the apartment.

A news release says the cause is under investigation.

Frontenac Paramedics took one person to hospital for smoke inhalation and another person for shortness of breath.  The Red Cross was called in to help find places for tenants to stay following the fire.

 

Angeline Ave Fire

Nobody was injured in a fire that damaged a garage and its contents in Kingston’s west end.

The fire was reported around 11:25 on Saturday morning at 502 Evangeline Avenue.

Firefighters were able to keep it from spreading to the adjoining homes.

The cause is being blamed on carless use of smoker’s materials.

 

Lock it or Lose It

Frontenac OPP is reminding people to lock it or they just may lose it after vehicles were entered in Verona on the weekend.

Frontenac OPP says they got 12 reports on Sunday of unlocked vehicles being entered in Verona.

Items reported stolen included a purse, wallet, laptop, tools, sunglasses and loose change.

 

U-Haul

U-Haul International says – Kingston was the number 1 city for do it yourself movers in Canada in 2018.

The company has released its annual migration trends report based on rental of its vehicles.

It says Kingston jumped 12 spots last year to become Number 1.

Arrivals of one-way U-Haul trucks in Kingston were up 9 percent while departures were up 2 percent from the city’s 2017 numbers.
