Around 7:10, a 32 year old woman was hit by a car on Princess just west of Bath Road.

Kingston Police Collision Reconstruction Officers responded to the scene, and continue the investigation.

They ask anyone who may have information or who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

Brockville Bell

Brockville Police are on the lookout for a large locomotive bell that was stolen over the holidays.

The 300 pound bell usually sits next to the old refurbished railway tunnel, but went missing sometime between Christmas Eve and December 29th.

They are asking anyone with information about the crime or the current whereabouts of the bell to contact them.

Automatic Pardons

The House of Commons public safety committee is considering automatic criminal pardons for SOME offenders who have served their sentences.

The committee says a criminal record can hinder a person’s ability to get a job, find housing, travel, and go to school.

New Brunswick M-P Wayne Long says sometimes people make mistakes early in life, and the criminal justice system often fails to provide a second chance.

Changes brought in under the former Conservative government require lesser offenders with a summary conviction to wait five years before they can apply to the Parole Board of Canada for a pardon.

Carbon Tax

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer says another four years of Justin Trudeau’s leadership will only mean an even higher federal carbon tax.

The federal government’s new carbon pricing system comes into effect this year in provinces that don’t have carbon pricing mechanisms of their own.

The federal Opposition leader says government officials are saying the tax would need to rise to 100-dollars per tonne for it to be effective at reducing carbon emissions.
