San Francisco Boy Is Cancer-Free 5 Years After Saving City as “Batkid”

Miles Scott went viral back in 2013 when the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted the 5-year-old boy’s wish to become Batman, transforming San Francisco into Gotham with help from late mayor Ed Lee and local police and fire departments.

The nonprofit organization has now confirmed that Miles–a.k.a. Batkid–is now cancer-free. “Miles has returned to being a typical kid—playing Little League, going to school, helping his family farm, and even selling his first market goat in the local fair!” it said in a statement.

“Now 10 years old and in fifth grade, Miles loves science and robotics.” Make-a-Wish director Jen Wilson says that Miles was convinced after his big day that he really was Batkid. “He just thought he was doing his job,” she recalls. “He took his work seriously. He thought Batkid might need to stick around.”
