Town Homes Kingston

A report for Kingston city council says Town Homes Kingston ran a deficit of 180 thousand dollars last year and was on track to run a deficit of over 200 thousand dollars this year…but taxpayers won’t be on the hook.

The 180 thousand dollar deficit will be covered by reserve funds and the 2018 deficit will be paid for by re-mortgaging an apartment complex owned by Town Homes Kingston.

The city took over operation of the not for profit company in July.  It had been managing 400 residential units in Kingston. The city is now working on merging Town Homes Kingston with the Kingston and Frontenac Housing Corporation.

Survey – Waste

The City of Kingston is asking people to complete a survey on how satisfied they are with the city’s garbage collection and waste diversion.  The city says more than 1,300 people participated in the survey last year.

The annual survey is aimed at helping the city improve services.

This year it is asking if people would be interested in a green bin that is about half the size of the current green bin.  Last year’s survey says 80% of people in Kingston are satisfied with the current green bin program.
