Intensification

The consultant the city has hired to speak about increasing the density of population in central Kingston says previous generations didn’t make good design decision for Kingston’s waterfront.

Brent Toderian posted on Twitter yesterday:

“Previous generations didn’t make good design decisions for #KingstonOn’s waterfront – slab buildings boxing it in, blank walls, fences & parking along the building edge at-grade. My hotel view doesn’t make a good first impression, but lots to see & learn today. #urbandiagnosis”

The former chief planner for the City of Vancouver will speak on the topic of intensification at a special public meeting of Kingston City Council at 6pm today in Memorial Hall.

OPP – 401

With fresh snow falling today…police have asked drivers to slow down and leave lots of distance between vehicles.

Napanee OPP responded to 22 motor vehicle collisions in the snow yesterday. Four transport trucks went into the ditch on the 401 eastbound…one blocked both lanes and the highway was closed at Highway 49.

The OPP says right after the highway was re-opened to traffic a woman from Toronto was stopped for doing 137 km/h.  A few minutes after getting that speeding ticket…she was stopped again for going 135 km/h.
