A 27 year old man from South Frontenac is being remembered as a reliable, hard-working, loving and thoughtful son and friend.

Wade Young died in a crash early Saturday morning on the 401 near the Westbrook overpass.

The OPP says it believes Young died when he was hit by a vehicle while he was checking his SUV that had crashed into the guard rail on the highway around 5 a.m. Saturday.

Four vehicles were involved in the collision and five people were taken to hospital with injuries.

A Go Fund Me account has been set up for the family Wade Young.

College Strike – Legislation Passed

St. Lawrence College says faculty will return to work today and it is asking students to be back in classrooms tomorrow.  The five week long strike by professors, counsellors and librarians is over after the Ontario government passed back to work legislation yesterday.

A message on the St. Lawrence College website says questions about semester finish dates and the need to carry over fall semester work into January will be answered as quickly as possible after consultation with faculty.

Road Work – Rock Hauling

Work to build up the rock embankments for the bridge over the railway tracks on John Counter Boulevard resumes today.

The city says the final layer of rock will be added to the embankment that will eventually support the bridge over the rail tracks.

It says motorists should expect occasional delays until the work is completed in mid-December.

Tree of Hope

The annual Tree of Hope campaign officially gets underway today.

The campaign by Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington is raising money to help buy gifts for 900 children.

Manson – Obit

Cult leader Charles Manson has died of natural causes at the age of 83.

Manson’s followers murdered actress Sharon Tate and six other people in 1969.

Investigators later learned Manson sent a group of young followers to commit murders as part of a twisted plan to launch a race war.

Trudeau – Apology LGBTQ Military

Prime Minister Trudeau will officially apologize on November 28th to those who were pushed out of Canada’s military or public service because of their sexual orientation.  Thousands of Canadians in the military, RCMP, and across the civil service were fired during a period that began in the 1950’s and continued until 1992.
