KP and POH – City Council

The future of Kingston Penitentiary and the Portsmouth Olympic Harbour is in the hands of Kingston City Council.

Council meets tonight and will vote on recommendations from the visioning exercise for the two sites conducted by the city and federal government.

The final recommendations include removal of about a third of the prison wall, construction of two high rise buildings, low rise residential buildings on the prison site and replacements of the Olympic Harbour building with a new facility.

Council’s decision tonight may allow the federal government to proceed with selling off the properties.  The city will be responsible for development of the Olympic Harbour.
