Defence Report – Special Ops

A report co-authored by a Queen’s University defence expert and a Royal Military College professor says Canada’s defence decision makers need to have a better knowledge of the Special Operations Force.  Christian Leuprecht and RMC professor H. Christian Breede say the Special Operations Force is under-utilized and Canada needs to develop a better way to optimize the use of the specially trained soldiers.

The report was published jointly by the Conference of Defence Associations Institute in cooperation with the Macdonald-Laurier Institute.

The full report, titled Beyond the Movies: The Value Proposition of Canada’s Special Operations Forces, is available online.

The two girls were reported missing from Loyalist Township on December 5th.

Impaired Driver

Another day – another story about an impaired driver.

Police say a vehicle was seen swerving in and out of traffic around 6:45 Monday morning.  It went through a red light at Bath Road and Tanner Driver and then rear-ended another vehicle at a stop light on Bath Road.  A man was arrested at a home on Campbell Crescent.  The 46 year old Kingston man is facing charges of impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene of a collision.

Woman Arrested – Intoxicated

A sad story about a 36 year old woman with no fixed address who was arrested by Kingston Police for causing a disturbance in a downtown store.  A news release from police says the woman spilled beer and urinated on the floor of a store in the 100 block of Princess Street early Monday afternoon.  She was arrested outside the store and charged with causing a disturbance by being intoxicated, mischief and possession of a small quantity of marijuana.
