ATV – Fatal Accident

A 20 year old man from Prince Edward County has died after his ATV rolled on top of him and investigators say alcohol was a factor in the fatality.

Prince Edward OPP say they were called to a home on Salisbury Road in Ameliasburgh around 2:30 yesterday morning to investigate a single vehicle collision involving an ATV.

Police say Tristen Clayton was wearing a helmet but sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

In case you missed it…

St. Lawrence College has received its largest donation ever.  The college announced on Friday it had received $3 million from the Britton Smith Foundation.

The money goes towards the college’s Uncommon Campaign.

 

Kingston and the Islands MP Mark Gerretsen announced $2 million in federal funding for improvements to Kingston’s VIA Rail station on Friday.

Halloween – Safety

It’s Halloween Day and Police are urging parents to make it a safe night.  Some of their suggestions for trick or treating tonight include…plan a route to follow…take your time…use a flashlight…and only go to homes that have their lights on.  Police are also reminding parents to go through their children’s loot to make sure everything is safe.

Approximately 40 Kingston Police Community Volunteers and St. Lawrence College Police Foundations Students will be helping Kingston Police patrol the streets tonight.

Frontenac Secondary – Monster Mash

Students and teachers at Frontenac Secondary School will clash in their 19th annual Monster Mash Basketball

Game this afternoon.  Students and teacher play a basketball game dressed in full costume with the proceeds going to charity.  This year all the proceeds will go to the Boys and Girls Club to help with a new youth music program and recording studio.

Conjugal Visits

The private family visit program operated by the Correctional Service at federal prisons is in the spotlight after reports a convicted murderer in BC is eight months pregnant after conjugal visits. Some people are questioning the program.  But experts say extended visits with family isnide prison gives inmates a better chance of successfully reintegrating into society. Queen’s University law professor Lisa Kerr says most federal inmates are eventually released and it’s in society’s best interest to make that process as successful as possible.
