KGH – HDH

There is no word yet on the impact on jobs after Kingston General Hospital and Hotel Dieu Hospital announced they will operate as one organization.

The new organization will operate as one hospital with one budget and will be overseen by one Board, One Chief Executive Office and one Executive team.

The transition will be finalized by April of next year.

Hospital representatives say the decision was made to improve the experience of patients and families by delivering more coordinated care…and say it may save money.

The interim CEO at KGH, Jim Flett, and the CEO of Hotel Dieu, Dr. David Pichora will lead the transition process and have promised to seek input from the community.

The OPP contacted Kingston Police after determining the offence took place in Kingston.

Gunshot Incident

Kingston Police say they don’t believe anyone was injured after witnesses reported seeing a man being chased and a man shooting at him what appeared to be a handgun on Monday.

Police believe the men know each other…but do not believe anyone was injured in the incident.

Inmate Assault

An inmate in the maximum security unit at Collins Bay Institution has been assaulted.

Marine Museum – Council Meeting

Kingston City Council will meet tonight to discuss a staff report recommending moving the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes to the Portsmouth Olympic Harbour.

The report also recommends the Alexander Henry be moved to the Picton Terminal…owned by Doornekamp Construction while staff determine if it can be sunk for a diving reef.  If not – Doornekamp would dispose of the ship at an additional cost.

There are other options – but moving to the Olympic Harbour building and moving the ship to Picton are being recommended in the staff report.

The museum and former coast guard ship have to move after negotiations with the new owner of the property failed to produce an agreement.
