Students Move In

Students moving into the massive new apartment complex at the corner of Princess and Victoria Streets are finding unfinished rooms, with construction still going on to finish the building.

Some students have been asked to delay moving in – others have found their furnished apartments aren’t furnished yet.

The original structure was destroyed by a spectacular fire a year and a half ago.

The manager says they’re doing everything possible to help tenants.

About 250 people have already moved in and those who haven’t been able to have been given other accommodation.

 Final Vigil

A 20 year Kingston tradition will come to an end in two weeks.

For the past 20 years, the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul have led a silent vigil at City Hall from 12:15 to 12:45 every Friday.  They’ve been joined by many other people during their silent protest over everything from cuts to welfare to First Nations rights.

It started during the Conservative government of Mike Harris and his common sense revolution.

The final vigil will take place September 17th and the Sisters are inviting everyone in Kingston to join them in front of Kingston City Hall.  It won’t be silent though – it will be a celebration with songs and stories.
