Motorcycle Driver – Charges

Kingston Police have seized the motorcycle of a man who faces numerous charges after a brief high speed chase.

Police says the motorcycle was clocked going at 126 km/hour in a 60 zone around nine last night.

The driver was arrested on Division Street near the 401.

The motorcycle has been seized for seven days because he’s been charged with stunt driving.

The 34 year old man isn’t from the Kingston area and also faces charges of failing to stop for police, going through a red light and driving without the proper license or insurance.

Hunter – Wanted Man’s Record

A man wanted by Kingston Police for attempted murder after a woman was seriously injured by a pickup truck has a lengthy criminal record.

Police issued a warrant for the arrest of Justin Hunter last week after a 22 year old woman was hit by a truck.

According to the Whig Standard, Hunter has been in trouble with the law and on the run numerous times over the past 13 years.

 Not the Guy

Kingston Police say a photo of a high risk offender posted online is not the photo of a man who was released last Friday and is living in Kingston.

Police posted a notice on social media yesterday saying a picture of a 58 year old man released by London Police two years ago has been identified as the man living in Kingston.

Kingston Police say it is not the same person and the 58 year old offender identified by London Police is not living in Kingston either.

Memorial Centre School – Website

People are still campaigning to have Kingston’s new high school built on the Memorial Centre land.

A new website promoting the location says separate facilities including a multi-purpose sports field, arts, recreational and programming spaces would be open to the community during non-school hours.

It says the existing arena, aqua park, a dog park and other green space would remain in place.

The Limestone District School Board says the only way it can open up the discussion is to have a trustee bring forward a motion.  It has already chosen the QECVI property for the new high school.

Kingston’s Economy

The Conference Board of Canada says Kingston’s economy is expected to grow 1.1% this year and 1.6% next year. Economic growth has been at a level of under 1 percent in Kingston for the past two years.

The Conference Board is predicting housing starts, construction and employment will all increase next year.

La Salle Causeway Update

Public Works and Government Services Canada hasn’t announced the date yet but now says the La Salle Causeway will be closed for two days in August or September.

It’s hoping to confirm the schedule in the near future.  It says the causeway will have to be closed for an important structural repair.
